Events
We conduct empathy interviews at student events or during ordinary class days on campus. Volunteers are paired up to conduct empathy interviews with students and record their responses. All VCU employees who have completed the VCU Cares Onboarding are eligible to volunteer at these events.

FAQ
At a VCU Cares event, volunteers will be put into pairs to conduct interviews. A spot or multiple spots will be selected for interviewers to stand. Students will either be sent to interviewers or a member of the interview team will approach students and ask if they have a minute to answer five questions about VCU.
If the student agrees to the interview, a volunteer will take notes on their responses to the questions.
If a table or booth is used at an event, in most cases, it will be located at the exit to an event. At events with no table a point person will be at the event to coordinate all volunteers.
Any VCU employee who has completed the VCU Cares training can participate. Sign ups will be sent out and it is encouraged that all those who wish to participate sign up before the event. Reminder emails and further details will be sent to those who sign up to volunteer in advance of the event.

Once you complete the training, you can conduct empathy interviews with any VCU student on campus at any time! The events are coordinated times where many of us will be together interviewing students.
