Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
Virginia Commonwealth University invites nominations for and applications from individuals interested in assuming an exciting leadership opportunity as Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership in overseeing the university’s faculty, thereby building and strengthening the academic mission and infrastructure for VCU. This position includes oversight for the Office of Faculty Recruitment and Retention, which is responsible for providing leadership for faculty recruitment and retention programs and services; supporting the university’s continuing commitment to enhance a culture of equity and inclusion; and hiring and retaining a diverse and talented faculty. The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and faculty development initiatives within the faculty success area are key components of the SVPFA’s responsibilities.
The chief responsibilities of this position will include working closely with the VCU faculty peer mentoring program, overseeing the leadership and department chair professional development, coordinating with equity and access services, collaborating with the Office of Integrity and Compliance and the University Ombudsperson on faculty-related conflicts and disputes and overseeing the faculty fellow program to provide opportunities for professional development for mid-level faculty.
