In 2016, the General Education Task Force was charged with once again updating the VCU general education curriculum with a strong, coherent rationale that organized 30 credit hours into a portable set of requirements. The GETF was comprised primarily of faculty across the university representing a broad spectrum of interests and disciplines. From January 2016 to October 2017, the committee developed the model outlined below. In October 2017, the co-chairs presented the model to the Provost’s office for review. From November 2017 through March 2018, the committee vetted the model with the faculty for input that was used to revise and make decisions on the final draft.
