Community engaged faculty making a difference

Provost updates

Author: Office of the Provost

Today we are proud to highlight two programs that began at VCU and continue to serve our greater community. David Coogan, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of English, shares the motivations for Writing Our Way Out, his recent book that is a culmination of a writing class and community engagement project that began in the Richmond City Jail. K.C. Ogbonna, Pharm.D., associate dean for admissions and student services, School of Pharmacy, discusses bridging the classroom with real life experiences to help students and faculty learn more and offer resources to residents in Richmond senior housing facilities.

Community engagement is a vital part of our VCU culture, and this video showcases just two of our university faculty who are making a difference.
