Office of Disability Support Services to change name

Provost updates

By: Division of Student Affairs

Over the past two years, VCU has grown its reputation for providing a high level of supports for students with disabilities. There has been a substantial increase in the number of students disclosing disabilities to the university and, in turn, those actively utilizing accommodations and support.

To better address the changing climate of student needs and increased interest, on August 14, 2017, The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) will be transitioning into Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity (SAEO). The core mission of the office, to provide equal access to programs and opportunities for students with disabilities, will remain intact. It will expand, however, to recognize and support the rapidly increasing number of students at VCU presenting with a much broader range of needs and concerns.
