Applications open for 2020 REAL Poster Session
The VCU REAL initiative is now seeking applicants for the 2020 REAL Poster Session, an annual showcase of VCU's current experiential learning activities that is quickly becoming REAL's signature event. This year's poster session will be held April 6, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Institute for Contemporary Art.
Members of the VCU community are invited to create a poster showcasing the experiential learning programs happening within their unit. These posters will be set up around the workshop space, allowing participants to share their work and learn about other experiential learning initiatives happening around campus.
Due to space concerns, we are dividing the poster display sessions into two blocks of time this year. The first round of posters will be displayed from 9 to 10 a.m., with the second round of posters going up from 11 a.m. to noon. In between the two sessions, Ted Talks style presentations will be held in the ICA auditorium.
The goal of the event is to foster dialogue that leads to collaboration and the sharing of resources, strategies and expertise.
Student collaborators are welcome as well!
Develop and submit a poster
First things first, sign up and let us know you're coming!
Now that you're all signed up, to make your participation as easy as possible, we have created a template that participants may use. You fill in the content, we take care of the rest.
We have also partnered with the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program for poster printing. If you wish to have your poster printed by UROP, please plan on having your file to us no later than March 23.
The poster template is intended to guide your team’s work as you develop your poster. However, please feel free to adapt it as you like — we certainly won’t limit your creativity! If you already have posters you’ve used before at other events, please feel free to use those as well.
We're also seeking presenters to give a brief TED Talks style presentation as part of this year's poster session. Nothing stressful or time intensive on your part - just hit the ICA auditorium stage and talk about your passion!
If you're interested in giving a talk about your experiential learning projects at this year's poster session, please let us know as part of the RSVP form above.
