Department Chair Leadership Development Series Apr 24

The 2019 Department Chair Leadership Development Series presents "How Social Media is Changing Leadership" on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 3 - 4:30 p.m. The event features a panel presentation and discussion by university experts: 

Tristana Trani, Director of Social Strategy and Integration, University Relations 
Trani will show us what students, faculty, and staff are using in terms of social media, beyond Facebook and Twitter. 

TyRuben Ellingson, Chair, Department of Communication Arts, School of the Arts 
Ellingson is an innovative user in technology and social media and will help frame social media through his role as a department chair and within his own research and practice. 

Deirdre Condit, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, College of Humanities and Sciences
Condit will discuss her perspective on social media from what she sees in the dean's office and how social media can create challenges for academic leaders. 

Elizabeth Brooks and M. Elizabeth Griffin, Office of University Counsel 
Brooks and Griffin will discuss social media from a legal perspective, including best practices with searches and hiring. 

The event will be held in the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building (MCV Campus), rooms 104 and 105. Please also join us for a reception after the event to informally network with your colleagues from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Non-alcoholic beverages, beer/wine, and light snacks will be provided.
