Upcoming opportunities for faculty

Provost updates

Author: Office of the Provost

As you plan for the spring 2017 semester, here are two important opportunities for faculty:

Weigh in on the university’s next strategic plan

In late November, twelve listening sessions were held to engage the VCU community in the initial planning stages for the university’s next strategic plan. If you weren’t able to attend any of the listening sessions, or even if you did attend one, there is still time to give us your feedback. A recap of the sessions and an online feedback form is available at quest.vcu.edu/new. Responses will be collected through Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017.

Save the date: Workshop on unconscious bias, Jan. 11, 2017

Please join the members of the Office of Faculty Affairs and your faculty colleagues for a two-hour workshop, Unconscious Bias in the Classroom, which will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. (location TBA). The workshop will be led by Leslie Traub and will focus will be on how these unconscious or implicit biases manifest in educational settings, particularly with respect to the expectations of teachers and students. Click here to register.

As always, thank you for all that you do at Virginia Commonwealth University. Happy Holidays!

Provost Updates will resume in January, 2017
